Friday and it looks to be fun
Mood/Health:
Woke up today with a migraine. Figured I get my caffeine in and see how I felt once I got moving. It didn't get better, but never terrible until after the workout. It got so bad then that I had to head home to get some medicine and take a nap.
Training:
A - Establish 1RM Tempo Back Squat at 31X1
Rest 10 min
B - Max reps at 85% of A using Tempo 31X1
C - 20 sets of 5 CTB breaking every 5, sets unbroken
Results and Notes:
A - 375# - felt good, got a little forward so I called it there. Could possibly get to 395# but the pause was pushing me a bit forward, as I could feel my but come up early out of the bottom
B - 5 reps @ 319# - 5th rep felt similar to the max above so I called it there
C - 0:49/2:19/4:28/7:10 - this one got kind of ugly for me on the back end. Set 10 I started to lose my butterfly and could only get the first rep from then on (until the last set). My gymnastics kips is a noticeable weakness for me in CTB, it seems like it takes much more energy. Set 13 I felt the first rip/blood blister, luckily it was the only one. Set 16 I missed the bar and had to do 6 reps. 17 I failed with 4 reps and repeated. 20 was another failure, 10 sec rest and sucked it up for 5 more butterflies.
Shortly after I got REALLY sick, possibly due to the headache. A little more pacing and I could see getting ~6 min fresh. CTB in volume seem to eat me up. Same thing in 13.5. I finished the first one easily and barely got through 50 reps in the second 4 min section.
First time pushing tempo squats for max weight so I guess it's a PR. No PR so we'll settle for a funny pic today just because the interweb is full of lulz.
